The influential role of friends, families and colleagues is one of the interesting findings to arise from a survey undertaken by Ipsos MORI and commissioned by the British Lingual Orthodontic Society.
The stats
Apparently one fifth of people believe they would benefit from orthodontic treatment. The figure is higher in the USA, I believe, where one third of adults are unhappy with their smile. But attitudes are changing gradually here and the BLOS survey also reveals that more than 37% of people say they care more about their teeth today than a decade ago.
