At The London Lingual Orthodontic Clinic, we view retainers as integral to our patients’ orthodontic treatment, which is why they are included in the cost of treatment.
We adopt a prudent approach to retention, because we know that your treatment is a big investment. Wearing dental retainers after your braces are removed is essential for maintaining the alignment of your teeth.
You will be provided with fixed retainers which are attached behind the front teeth in the upper and lower arches. You will also be given removable retainers which cover the whole arch. Following treatment we recommend that the removable ones are worn at night for a year. Through this level of extra care, we hope to keep all of our patients happy and healthy and protect the investment you have made.
Why are we so passionate about retainers?
We see a significant number of adult patients who had orthodontic treatment during childhood but suffered relapse later. As we get older, our teeth will move so it’s important retainers are worn to maintain the alignment of the teeth.
There are other good reasons for wanting to protect teeth with removable retainers, including protecting the surfaces of teeth in patients who grind their teeth at night. They will also prevent fillings from being worn down or chipped.
We know our patients value their treatment here and we want to do everything we can to keep teeth in their new, straight and harmonious position.
