A hot shot breakfast

This is Farzanah’s spiced and zingy porridge recipe and rather different from the traditional British version! It’s the blend of a hot shot, oats and fresh fruit. Perfect for a cold winter morning.  


  • Four apples
  • Fresh ginger root
  • A small piece of turmeric
  • Two lemons
  • Porridge oats
  • Fresh fruit


  1. Juice 4 apples and blend with a palm sized piece of ginger, a finger piece of turmeric and two squeezed lemons to create a jug of zingy juice.
  2. Warm some oats with 1/2 a mug of the juice on a pan until warm.
  3. Top with some fruit and enjoy.
