The treatment time will vary depending on the complexity of the problem. Each treatment is based on a comprehensive and individually personalised treatment plan. The treatment can take anywhere between 6 to 24 months.
Just like normal braces, lingual braces may be uncomfortable for the first 7-10 days. During this time:
Most people do notice a temporary change in their speech. This generally improves after an initial period of adaptation. The brackets we use minimise this problem. If speech is a concern, we can refer you to a speech therapist.
It will be more challenging because you will need to spend more time to keep your teeth clean. You should see a hygienist to have your teeth cleaned professionally every 3-4 months during treatment. We have two hygienists working in the practice as it’s Asif’s policy to ensure that patients’ teeth improve from all perspectives, including their dental health.
During your first week in braces, we recommend that you choose soft, easy-to swallow foods, such as soups or smoothies. You can find some delicious recipes that should suit you written by nutritionist Farzanah Nasser in our blog.
We ask all our patients to wear retainers in order to protect their investment in their newly straightened smile. Wearing retainers is the only way to guarantee the stability of treatment.
