The first steps in your orthodontic treatment journey

Following your initial consultation, you will need to attend the following appointments to allow us to put your treatment in hand before the really exciting journey begins:

Records appointment

The first step after your initial consultation is to attend a records appointment at the clinic. During this appointment, an LLOC team member will use advanced digital technology to take comprehensive scans and photographs. These will provide a detailed 3D representation of your teeth, which, together with the X-rays, enables us to assess your treatment needs thoroughly.

Brace fitting appointment

As soon as your custom braces are ready, you will be invited back to the clinic for the fitting. If you have chosen fixed braces, this session is referred to as the ‘bond-up appointment’. After this, regular check-ups are scheduled every four to six weeks.

These visits are essential for monitoring your braces so we can check the progression of your treatment and ensure we achieve the desired outcomes efficiently and effectively. You are, of course, welcome to contact us or make additional appointments if you want to discuss anything or if you have concerns.

Aligner treatment preview and approval

If your treatment includes aligners, an intermediate appointment will be scheduled at the clinic, where you will be shown a short animation of how your teeth will move through treatment. This will let you see the outcome so you can approve your treatment before the aligners are created for you.

Care and maintenance of your braces

After your braces are fitted, we will show you how to maintain them and the best way to keep your teeth clean while wearing them.

So that your treatment experience is as comfortable and effective as possible, we will also give you our specially created orthodontic care kit to take away. The kit includes protective wax to minimise any discomfort if your braces rub against your tongue or soft tissues, a mouthwash, and small brushes designed for meticulous cleaning between your teeth and around the brackets.

Finally, we recommend that all of our patients visit their regular hygienist during treatment, either at your usual dentist or we can arrange professional cleaning for you at the Clinic.
